THOUSANDS of pupils in and around Plymouth received their grades from GCSEs and vocational and technical qualifications (VTQs) yesterday, with many schools reporting record results and revealing stories of individual achievement.
Plympton Academy said their students recorded the school’s strongest GCSE outcomes since the pandemic, with grades at 4 or above and 5 or above rose dramatically to reach record-breaking levels.
While all students should be congratulated for their achievements, some individual performances particularly stood out:
Jamie Best, achieved six grade 9s, two Distinctions and one grade 8;
Isabelle Allen, gained three grade 9s, four grade 8s, one Distinction* and one grade 6;
Indi Rose Hill, achieved one grade 9, three grade 8s, three grade 7s, one Distinction and one grade 5;
Isla Ashford achieved a majority of 7 and 8 grades in her subjects;
Richard Saunders achieved a majority of 7 and 8 grades in his subjects.
Shaun Willis, Headteacher at Plympton Academy said: “A huge congratulations to our Year 11 students on a fantastic set of results. One of the most rewarding parts of my role is seeing the personal growth behind each success and we look forward to welcoming many of them back in September as they begin their next chapter in our sixth form. My heartfelt thanks go to our students, our brilliant staff, and the families who have supported them throughout this journey”
Devonport High School for Boys said their students had achieved ‘exceptional’ GCSE results.
