Redundancies put on hold as bids for Wilko considered

JOB losses at crisis-hit retailer Wilko have been put on hold as administrators consider "multiple" bids for the company.

Union chiefs said that while the chain, which has a huge outlet in Plymouth city centre, is not "out of the woods" this is a positive development.

The GMB said representatives met with administrators at PwC to discuss multiple bids which have been made for the discount retailer.

Bidders have not been named, but on Sunday it was reported that a last-minute bid worth £90m had been made by restructuring specialist M2 Capita - which could keep the entire Wilko chain trading.
