Recycling centre closed as 'WW2 bomb brought in'

PLYMOUTH’S main recycling centre was closed yesterday afternoon after a suspected WW2 bomb was reportedly brought in as waste.

Workers were reportedly sent home from Chelson Meadow Recycling Centre, just off Billacombe Road, with police on the scene shortly after 3pm on Friday afternoon.

A resident told The Herald that a WW2 bomb had been taken to the centre, though a Plymouth City Council spokesperson refuted that it would have been accepted by staff.
