ROBINS are famous for their instantly recognisable red breast, but a photographer and birdwatcher has captured something particularly rare in a wooded area on the edge of Dartmoor - a completely white robin.

The bird is known as a leucistic robin and is so rare that only a handful have ever been recorded in Devon.

Leucism is a genetic mutation and occurs in a huge range of animals. The condition causes partial, patchy or total loss of pigmentation.
