New parkland at the heart of the city centre

THERE is a new park in the centre of Plymouth - and we're not talking about the £30m Armada Way regeneration.

The University of Plymouth has created the park in the heart of its campus, not far from where work is ongoing to upgrade the main route through the city centre.

The area covers the footprint of the former Brunel Building, an age-ing factory-style block which had stood on the site since the early 1960s.

Over the course of a year, the 0.66-hectare space was transformed from an outdated set of workshops to a demolition site, and now to a green lung for the university and the wider community.
