Navy personnel honoured for role in royal funeral

SCORES of Royal Navy personnel – including many serving at HMNB Devonport – have been honoured by King Charles III following the death of Queen Elizabeth II. A list of Demise Awards were announced by the King featuring many servicemen and women who played a role in the Queen’s funeral.

Members of the State Field Gun Carriage, 20 of whom are based in Devon, have been recognised with a Royal Victorian Medal following the funeral in September last year.

The late monarch’s closest adviser, Angela Kelly, and other Royal Household staff were also made members of the Royal Victorian Order (RVO). Ms Kelly, 65, served as Her Majesty’s personal assistant and senior dresser for 20 years until the monarch’s death in September, reports the Mirror.
