CLEVERLEY LOOKS TO MAKE ALEX A PERMANENT PILGRIM

- By CHRIS ERRINGTON

PLYMOUTH Argyle are 'starting early conversations' about a permanent move for on-loan Charlton Athletic defender Alex Mitchell this summer, Tom Cleverley has revealed.

The 24-year-old centre-back has been a first team regular after joining the Pilgrims in August and Cleverley declared that Mitchell was 'a big part of what we do on and off the pitch'.

Mitchell played in one Carabao Cup tie for Charlton at the start of this term before completing his loan move to Argyle, and has gone on to make a total of 29 starts and two substitute appearances.

Cleverley said: “From a technical perspective and what the challenges of this league brings, we know you have got to defend your box first and foremost, and he’s outstanding at that.
