Lamb rues a poor showing as Albion go down at Tonbridge

PLYMOUTH Albion head coach Ryan Lamb pulled no punches after his side crashed to a disappointing 35-25 defeat at Tonbridge Juddians in National One.

After such a promising start to the season, this was a setback to Albion and their hopes of challenging for the title and Lamb was far from happy with what he saw from his team.

"It was a disappointing result and performance," he said. "We had times in the game we were on top but missed tackles. Giving up penalties gave them opportunities and they capitalised well. We definitely need a big reaction next week.”

The home side made the better start, managing a try almost immediately through George Merrick, adding the extra two shortly after. With a score in the first minute of the game, there was plenty of rugby still to play.

For twenty minutes the game ebbed and flowed, with Albion holding a slight territorial advantage one they managed to convert into a try through Harry Wilkinson from a set piece. Frankie Dart didn’t quite make the conversion, but Albion were back in the game.
