Inquest is opened into death of acid attack victim

AN inquest has been opened into the death of a 38-year-old man who was sprayed with acid during an attack on his front door in Plymouth.

A number of people are now facing trial charged with the murder of Danny Cahalane, including his former partner.

The brief public hearing was held on June 12 by area coroner Nicholas Lane at Exeter County Hall, now the main coroner's court for Devon, Plymouth and Torbay.

He explained that Danny lived at a property in Lipson Road and died in a Southmead hospital in Bristol on May 3. Mr Lane said Danny was "subject to a serious assault where he received extensive injuries which were deemed life changing and life threatening".
