THE best performing state secondary schools in Plymouth for 2025 have been revealed, just two weeks before parents in Plymouth face a deadline to submit applications for Year 7 places in September 2026.
The Department for Education has just published GCSE performance data for every secondary school in England for the 2024/25 academic year.
Devonport High School for Girls took the top spot, with 97.6 per cent of pupils scoring a grade 5 or above in English and Maths GCSEs. The excellent results meant the school was ranked among the 60 best performing schools in England in this year’s results.
In second place was Devonport High School for Boys, where pupils were only a few points behind, with 94.4 per cent achieving grade 5 or above in English and Maths.
And Plymouth High School for Girls was in third place, with a score of 89.3 per cent on the key measurement.
The top three, all single sex grammar schools with selective admissions, achieved notably higher results than the remaining secondary schools in Plymouth.
