I can still feel the magical weight of a stocking at the end of my bed, hear the rustle of wrapping paper as I stirred awake, and the thrill of tearing into gifts alongside my sister - while carefully checking she hadn’t got more than me.

The table groaned under the weight of more food than we could eat. Then we had to pause for the Queen’s speech when all I wanted was to play with my new toys. And the day ended watching a Christmas special circled weeks before in the Radio Times bumper edition, bought only at Christmas.
