Derriford's admin team need to sort out their act
The Herald
|April 02, 2025
MANY hospital appointments have apparently been missed because the letter did not reach them in time.
-
I was phoned and accepted an appointment for a minor medical op at Derriford. The letter confirming this, with relevant information, was dated 25/3/25. It was delivered on 29/3/25 after I had left for my morning appointment that day.
I do not know when the letter was posted, but it was sent second class.
I had assumed there would be a confirming letter, but when it did not come I attended anyway.
Just as well I did. I was very happy with the professional treatment I received, but either the hospital admin or Royal Mail need to sort out their act.

Spring Statement and end-of-life care
THERE is currently a crisis in endof-life care in our country - with too many people dying in avoidable pain, poverty and alone.
Following the Spring Statement delivered by Chancellor Rachel Reeves, I was dismayed to see no mention of how terminally ill people will be protected through the changes being made.
Marie Curie research shows that under the current benefits system, 8,171 people are dying in poverty each year in the South West, with working-age people at significantly higher risk.
