Council leader labels fuel protest 'delusional'

THE Tory leader of Plymouth City Council has called for the police and other authorities to clamp down on fuel protesters planning to blockade the Tamar Bridge.

Cllr Richard Bingley said he wants "the toughest possible legal measures to be used to prevent" demonstrators stopping rush-hour traffic. He said a legal injunction could be put in place with anyone breaking it liable to wind up in court and face a jail term.

Cllr Bingley said the proposed demo could cause "real harm” and misery to commuters and accused the protesters of being "self-serving and politically delusional".
