Cleverley admits to 'gulf in quality'
The Herald
|September 01, 2025
TOM Cleverley admitted there was 'a gulf in quality' as his Plymouth Argyle side were soundly beaten 4-0 by League One leaders Cardiff City, writes Chris Errington.
Both clubs were relegated from the Championship last term but have had very different starts to the 2025/26 campaign. Cardiff are top of the table with 16 points out of a possible 18 while Argyle have lost five of their opening six games, including all three away fixtures.
Cleverley said: "Obviously very disappointed. We have got more than one issue at the minute. Clearly I think there is a gulf in quality between the two sides today so how do we bridge that gap? That is by doing the basics well - tackling, running, communicating, details, set pieces. That's how we could bridge that gap today and we didn't.
