CARNIVAL RETURNS TO THE WEST END THIS WEEKEND

THOUSANDS of people are expected to flock to Plymouth city centre on Saturday for a day of carnival fun and frolics.
The annual West End Carnival will bring excitement and colour to the streets around Plymouth Market, with a packed programme of free family entertainment.
The 11am to 4pm event, organised by Plymouth City Centre Company, will feature circus performers including jugglers, fire eater, stilts walker, a unicyclist and fortune teller, live music, dancers, free face painting, children's rides, and vintage cars.
There will be no parade this year, but there will be extra entertainment with a main stage at Frankfort Gate and another on the junction of New George Street and Market Avenue. On the main stage, music will include performances from Elements Plymouth Taiko Drumming, the Plymouth Rock Choir singing uplifting pop and rock tunes, and Manuka Groove playing their “infectious energy and diverse covers”.
