NEEDS TO REPLACE 'SPECIAL CARE' AREA
A DEVON animal charity has made an urgent appeal for help to replace a dilapidated unit that provides a permanent home for some of its most vulnerable cats.
Woodside Animal Welfare Trust fears The Mews special care unit will not withstand another winter, as the outdated facility deteriorates beyond repair.
The charity, based at Elfordleigh, is one of few in the region that offers a loving and permanent home to cats who, through age or illness, cannot be rehomed.
Over the last 30 years, The Mews has been a safe haven for more than 90 cats, including current residents Delen, Dotty and Guinness. But, despite countless temporary repairs, the fragile wooden structure can no longer be saved, leaving the charity needing to raise £65,000 to fund its replacement.
