Alcohol is to blame for anti-social behaviour

RE your recent story about public toilet closures being blamed for anti-social behaviour.
-
In my view, the real cause is people drinking alcohol in Patna Park, which results in them losing control over their bladders, and has nothing to do with the closure of public toilets.
It never ceases to amaze me how so-called intelligent people will look around for excuses to blame for anti-social behaviour that is clearly caused by alcohol.
It's the common denominator to be found in most anti-social behaviour, including assaults and shoplifting.
Personally speaking, I would like to see the glamorisation of sobriety promoted instead of the glamorisation of alcohol. I'm still waiting to hear what the exact nutritional value is that alcohol contains.

Pity we can't just demolish Civic Centre
THERE was plenty of excitement in your recent write-ups regarding the Civic Centre refurb. I recall a similar excitement was around in the early days when it opened.
At that time you could do all your council business in one building, entering through the spacious foyer.
You could also visit the cafe and veiwing deck on the roof.
Many charity abseiling events happened down the end wall, generating thousands for charity.
As the years went by, and serious maintenance was required, interest was lost and the staff were decanted to three city buildings, until the civic centre itself was left empty and more or less abandoned for years.
