Mysterious portrait identified as 'nine days queen' Lady Jane Grey

Known as the "nine days queen", she was a pawn in the ruthless plotting that defined the Tudor court. But for centuries historians struggled to find a single portrait of Lady Jane Grey painted during her lifetime.
Now research by English Heritage (EH) suggests a mysterious portrait depicts the ill-fated royal who briefly ruled England in 1553.
The charity says there is "compelling evidence" that the portrait was significantly altered after it was first painted, perhaps to depict the sitter as a Protestant martyr.
