Brother of Southport killer feared 'someone dying', inquiry told
The Guardian
|November 05, 2025
Axel Rudakubana's brother feared the Southport attacker would kill someone two years before he carried out the atrocity, an inquiry has heard.
Giving evidence via video link yesterday, Dion Rudakubana said his brother had reminded him of the sociopathic murderer in the film No Country for Old Men.
Axel Rudakubana was 17 when he murdered Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, Bebe King, six, and Alice da Silva Aguiar, nine, and attempted to kill 10 others at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class on 29 July last year.
Dion Rudakubana, who is two years older than Axel, described violent outbursts from his brother when they were in the car on the way to school, which had got worse after Rudakubana was expelled in October 2019. The 21-year-old said in a statement that his brother's behaviour had been "unpredictable and inconsistent" and that any disagreement could "escalate into an argument".
