RIGGER BECOMES MILLIONAIRE AFTER SCOOPING OMAZE PRIZE DRAW
A TEESSIDE oil rigger who spends seven months a year working off shore has become an overnight millionaire - and the first thing he did was quit his job.
Christian Jones, 52, is the latest winner of the Omaze Monthly Millionaire Draw - scooping a lifechanging £1 million prize, completely tax-free.
Christian, who has been working offshore on oil rigs for almost 20 years, and his wife Lesley, 57, a midwife, have lived in their same Teesside home since 2008. The couple, who have two children each from previous relationships, a seven-year-old grandchild and another on the way, were at home with friends when Omaze came knocking.
Christian said: "It was a Friday night - we were cooking dinner for friends, the Thai curry was on the go - and the last thing I was expect ing was to open the door and find out we'd become millionaires.
"When I first heard the knock at the door I assumed it was a doorto-door salesman and thought it was a bit late for someone to try and sell me a tea towel.
"I almost didn't answer, but I'm so glad I did as it's changed our lives forever.
