Thumbs up for 'family-style' children's home

RESIDENTIAL SCHEME WILL CARE FOR UP TO TWO YOUNGSTERS
COUNCIL plans to site a small-scale children's home in Redcar in an existing residential property have been approved.
An application had sought change of use planning permission for the property in West Dyke Road.
Up to two looked after children will be cared for 24/7, supported by trained local authority staff.
The application said: “The property is situated in a predominantly residential neighbourhood, characterised by similar detached and semidetached homes, with access to local amenities including schools, parks, healthcare facilities, and public transport links.
“The site benefits from a private driveway with off-street parking, a rear garden, and secure boundary fencing. It is accessible via a main road and is within reasonable proximity to council services and emergency response facilities.
“The location is considered suitable for a small-scale children's home due to its peaceful environment, community integration potential, and proximity to support services.”
