Nursery served legal notice after child 'left unsupervised'
The Gazette

A TEESSIDE nursery was served with a legal notice months after Ofsted inspectors found that its safeguarding policy and arrangements were "ineffective".
Nunthorpe Children's Day Nursery's provision was found to be "inadequate" with inspectors raising issues with all areas of The Crescent facility in August.
The Government department carried out a further inspection on September 23 and found that the Nunthorpe provider "was not meeting some of these requirements" in the early years foundation stage (EYFS) statutory framework which all early years providers must meet for legal requirements. A new document, published on October 17, states that following the check, Ofsted served a welfare requirements notice on September 24.
"This is a legal notice that requires the provider to take the actions below within the timescales set out," the document states.
It clarified that actions needed to be taken by September 30 which were to "ensure children are always within sight or hearing of staff, and improve staff's understanding of the transition procedures".
An inspection report stated that an incident occurred where "a child was unknowingly left unsupervised and was out of sight and hearing of staff".
