Motorists warned of delays due to 'abnormal load'

DRIVERS are being warned of possible delays to their journeys while a 200-tonne supergrid transformer abnormal load is escorted along the A174.

The essential piece of equipment is due to be delivered to an electricity substation under construction in Overton tomorrow.
It will be delivered from Teesport Docks, Middlesbrough, on a specialist vehicle over 80 metres long under police escort and at low speed. The transformer will travel along the road network via A19 southbound, past Thirsk, Thormanby and Shipton before arriving at Overton Substation on Overton Road.
