ANN MING ON TV PORTRAYAL OF HER FIGHT FOR JUSTICE

- By JOHN ROGAN AND CRAIG JONES

AN emotional Sheridan Smith has spoken about the deep bond she’s formed with a heroic woman after learning about her fight for justice.

The heart-wrenching true story of a mother’s love, bravery and resolve to alter the double jeopardy law is being portrayed in a new ITV drama series titled I Fought The Law.

The four-part drama, shot across the north of England, chronicles Teessider Ann Ming's quest for answers following the murder of her daughter Julie Hogg.

William Dunlop strangled 22 year old Julie Hogg and concealed her body beneath a bath at her home in Billingham, in 1989. Julie vanished after working a late shift at a local pizza shop.

Mother to three year old Kevin and wife to Andrew, Julie's life was brutally cut short at such a young age. Brought up in a loving family, she shared a close bond with her parents, Ann and Charlie.

Tragically, it was Ann who discovered Julie's body hidden in the bathroom of her terraced house in January 1990 - 80 days after it was stashed behind the bath panels by her murderer.

This was despite thorough searches of the property by police forensics teams in the days following her disappearance, who failed to locate her body.
