Edwards must find a way to unlock Conway's star potential

IT’S highly likely that Rob Edwards has already discovered what a star in the making he has got in Tommy Conway.

The Scottish international striker was a top signing last season. I feel certain that he would have scored more than his 13 goals if he had been given more support on the pitch.

I bet Tommy feels the same way too.

I lost count of the number of times when a teammate burst into a great attacking position and elected to shoot - off target - when Conway had his hand up, unmarked and screaming for the ball at the far post.

Conway scored eight of his 13 goals before his fellow Scot Ben Doak was injured, which suggests that the Liverpool man made a massive contribution with his assists. He did pick out Conway on a regular basis.

That’s not suggesting for one minute that Conway put all of his chances away. He didn’t. But in general he was a decent finisher and I think he has every right to set his sights on 20 goals this season.
