A TEESSIDE man is among the nation's "super-donors" who have been praised for their "dedication to helping as many people as they can".

- By JOHN ROGAN

Ten men aged between 31 and 64 have donated blood, plasma, platelets and stem cells through NHS Blood and Transplant over the past 20 years.

They are all also on the NHS Organ Donor Register. Blood, plasma, platelet and stem cells are used to help treat a variety of injuries and illnesses including life-threatening accidents and cancer.

Anthony Robson, 33, from Stockton, said: "My mum was the one who inspired me to start donating - she used to take me along to her appointments and so when I was old enough, going along to donate with her felt like the natural thing to do.

"I've since had children myself and I feel like I've come full circle, having them grow up with donation as such a natural part of life.

"Donation is so easy and so meaningful - knowing you can touch somebody's life in such an important way is just incredible.
