Daughter of late superbike rider helping children cope with grief
The Gazette
|June 12, 2025
A YOUNG Stockton girl has written a book to help children who are living with grief.
Daisy Mathison, who is nine, has transformed her own personal experience of grief into a message of hope and healing for others.
Daisy was born at North Tees Hospital and raised in Fairfield, Stockton.
When she was three years old, Daisy's father, professional motor-bike racer Daley Mathison, died in a crash.
Daisy's mother Natalie was left to navigate life with little to no support.
She said: “Support was non-existent. I was left on my own with a three-year-old. Daisy was overwhelmed with emotions, her behaviour changed a lot, and I didn’t know where to turn.”
