CARRIAGES REMOVED AS CLIFF TRAMWAY REVAMP GETS UNDER WAY

THE carriages of the much-loved Grade II-listed Saltburn Cliff Tramway have been removed ahead of a major upgrade.
Saltburn Foreshore and the Pier Car Park were closed on Thursday, to allow a crane and heavy recovery vehicle to remove the two carriages.
The removal comes after more than 15 years of service transporting an estimated 2.5 million passengers.
The new carriages complete with bigger stained glass windows will be built offsite and installed in the coming months ahead of the tourist season.
