Agony as Bears and Tigers suffer double defeat

TEESSIDE fans had their hearts broken twice in as many hours as both Redcar and Middlesbrough went down by an identical and agonising 46-44 scoreline in an Easter 'double-header' at Scunthorpe.

To make matters more painful it was two riders that have played a significant part in the ECCO Arena outfit's past that inflicted much of the damage on each occasion.

First, in the opening match of the group stage of the BSN Trophy, a dominant race-winning Agilia Bears needed a final race 5-1 to snatch victory over the Scorpions, only for Jake Allen, who became a big favourite at Redcar throughout 2021, to fly from the start and claim his first and only the Scorpions' third heat win of the afternoon.
