An inaugural Crime Writing Weekend is to be held later this year in Kirkcudbright highlighting two popular Dumfries and Galloway authors.

Ian Robinson and John Dean will also be joined by one of the genre's most respected editors, Dea Parkin, at Crime Fiction at the Selkirk Arms.

Held from October 10-12, the residential event-designed to help authors develop their own craft-will begin on the Friday evening with the opportunity to talk to all three at a dinner, called Supper and Sleuthing, with a Q&A session.

There will be a weekend of workshops led by Dea-an associate member of the prestigious Crime Writers' Association - covering topics as diverse as the craft of crime writing to how to impress agents and publishers.

Dea is owner and editor-in chief of editorial consultancy Fiction Feedback, based in Chorley, Lancashire, which specialises in critiquing and editing crime and historical fiction.

She and her team have worked alongside some of crime fiction's biggest agents and publishers.
