Why are GMA & ABS-CBN losing their labor cases?

The government is very vigilant in protecting employees' security of tenure. TV and radio talents are occupying regular positions. They're employees, not independent contractors.TV cameramen, technical directors, video editors, lightmen, scriptwriters, and other workers in TV and radio are regular employees of the company. They aren't independent contractors on short-term agreements. The Supreme Court decided they're employees and should be paid all compensations, including salaries and benefits.

The SC ended the unfair and unjust practice common to TV and radio broadcast networks of denying employer-employee relationships to their talents. These giant broadcast networks have treated talents as independent contractors, denying them rights, benefits, and entitlements under the Labor Code. In a series of adverse decisions, the SC ended such illegal practices by both GMA and ABS-CBN.
