The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) posted a net income of P70.3 billion in the first half, as lower revenues weighed on the central bank’s earnings.

Preliminary data showed the latest figure was down 17.8 percent from P85.5 billion in the same period last year. The decline came mainly from reduced revenues, which fell by 14.7 percent to P140 billion from P164.1 billion a year ago.

Most of the BSP’s revenues come from interest income on foreign investments, government securities and Treasury bonds.
