Veco to customers: Electricity rates up by P0.24/kWh in July-August billing

Residential customers of Visayan Electric (Veco) will see a P0.24 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) increase in their July-August electricity bills, bringing the overall rate to P11.27/kWh, up from last month's P11.03/kWh.
For a typical household consuming 200 kWh, this means an additional P48 on their monthly bill.
The power utility attributed the rate hike to an increase in generation charges, particularly due to higher electricity prices at the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM)—the platform where electricity is traded.
