Traslacion draws huge crowd
The Freeman
|January 16, 2026
More than 216,000 devotees gathered in a powerful display of faith, love, and hope as massive crowds joined this year's Penitential Walk with Mary on Thursday, January 15, a major highlight of the 461st Fiesta Señor celebration.
Living up to the theme "In Santo Niño We Are One," throngs of faithful converged at the Fuente Osmeña Circle in the early hours of the morning to await the arrival of the Holy Image of Cebu's patroness, Our Lady of Guadalupe de Cebu.
The procession began at 3 a.m. as the image of the Blessed Mother was paraded from the Archdiocesan Shrine and Parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe de Cebu in Barangay Guadalupe. Thousands of devotees were already waiting at Fuente Osmeña Circle when the image arrived.
From there, Marian devotees and other Catholic faithful walked the 2.1-kilometer stretch of Osmeña Boulevard toward the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño de Cebu, the home of Her Son.

40-20 rule
Phil Jackson has an interesting analogy in determining the chances of an NBA team winning the championship — if a team reaches 40 wins in the regular season before losing 20 games, it has a real chance of making it to the Finals.
