Smooth transition as Archival assumes city mayoral post
The Freeman
|July 01, 2025
In the days leading up to the transition, Archival expressed frustration over the alleged slow pace of the handover from Garcia's team—an accusation Garcia denied, stating his team had been cooperative.
-
As of Monday, Archival said the transition was progressing, though he declined to give his personal assessment of the findings. Archival's team continued processing transition documents that day.
Despite these developments, Archival assured the public there would be no disruption in government operations or services.
He emphasized that all department heads remained in place and none had been replaced as of yet.
However, he admitted that an initial list of employees had been identified in case certain contracts would not be renewed.
"Ingkaso og di gyud ma renew tanan, at least naay giingon nato nga skeleton nga workforce, para di gyud mahunong (service)," he said.
GARCIA LEAVES CITY HALL 'DEBT-FREE'
To officially conclude his term, Garcia delivered his State of the City Address (SOCA), reporting that he was leaving behind a "debt-free" city for the incoming administration.
In his end-of-term report, Garcia stated the city holds P12.1 billion in cash assets, which he said would be sufficient to sustain operations in the near future.
He added that the accumulated cash assets were achieved without raising tax rates, thereby avoiding added burdens on employers and taxpayers.
