Sarsi calls for unity in quake recovery

In the wake of differences and misunderstandings, Cebu Provincial Board Member Cesar “Sarsi” Baricuatro has called for unity and cooperation among local officials and Cebuanos following the September 30 earthquake that shook the province.

“Now more than ever, we must choose understanding, communication, and cooperation,” Baricuatro said during a privilege speech at the Provincial Board’s regular session yesterday.

He emphasized that rebuilding takes time and urged everyone to continue working hand in hand for a stronger recovery instead of criticizing each other.

Baricuatro commended the leadership of Governor Pamela S. Baricuatro, citing how swiftly the provincial offices were mobilized after the quake.

“From the first hour following the earthquake, rescue trucks, ambulances, and relief vehicles were deployed without delay,” he said.

The board member stressed that while relief and recovery operations are ongoing, unity and cooperation among all sectors are crucial for faster progress.
