Sen. Robin Padilla's political officer, an actress who was named in an incident report now under investigation for alleged marijuana use in the Senate, has resigned, according to Padilla's chief of staff, Rudolph Jurado.
-
In a statement on Monday, August 18, Jurado said Padilla’s office has received Nadia Montenegro’s written explanation, along with her resignation letter, which the senator accepted.
She said her resignation is not a confession to the alleged act, explaining that she stepped down for the sake of her mental health and the welfare of her children.
Montenegro, in her Aug. 15 written explanation, denied allegations that she was the Senate staff member identified in media reports that a certain staff member from the Office of the Sergeant at Arms (OSAA) and the staff member of another senator smelled a strange odor similar to marijuana coming from the ladies’ restroom near the Senate’s extension offices.
