Regulators tighten oversight of non-bank financial firms

The Financial Stability Coordination Council (FSCC) is strengthening its oversight of non-bank financial institutions (NBFIs) through a new monitoring framework aimed at addressing their growing links to the financial system.

The FSCC, an interagency body that monitors systemic risks, said the framework would align with global best practices and complement the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP)’s supervision of banks.
"With the FSCC’s holistic and nuanced understanding of market conditions, we can better anticipate risks and respond more decisively,” FSCC chair and BSP Governor Eli Remolona Jr. said.
