The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) arrested a wanted suspect accused of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl in Barangay Kalunasan earlier last week, during a coordinated inter-agency operation conducted in Manila yesterday morning, March 10.
-
The suspect was identified as Fernando Abapo Prajes, alias "Andot", 37, a habal-habal driver residing in the said barangay.
He was apprehended in Pier 4, North Harbor, Zaragoza Terminal, in Manila, when he was about to escape.
According to the CCPO, the arrest stemmed from a rape incident that allegedly occurred earlier on March 7 around 4 P.M. in the same barangay.
Reportedly, the suspect made the victim ride on his motorcycle and took her to a remote place in the barangay where he sexually assaulted her.
The victim told her mother about the incident and sought assistance from a barangay official to report it to the police.
Subsequently, operatives from the Guadalupe Police Station then launched a hot pursuit operation to track down Prajes who had fled.
