Mayor on corruption charges: It’s all lies’

Mayor Ronald Allan Cesante of Dalaguete, Cebu belied allegations of corruption filed against him and 11 others by the National Bureau of Investigation 7 before the office of the Ombudsman Visayas.

“That is a lie. The truth is, LGU Dalaguete has a project complete with proper documentation in the form of road concreting in the area. It is in segmented form due to funding concerns. DPWH also has a separate project connecting both roads. There is no overlap that occurred here. All appropriate documents and evidence including proper receipts are available for the public,” Cesante said in a press conference yesterday.

The NBI-7 charged Cesante and 11 others for alleged violation of Section 3 (e) of Republic Act (RA) 3019, otherwise known as Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act; violation of Article 217 of the Revised Penal Code (Malversation of Public Funds or Property); and grave misconduct as penalized under RA 6713, or The Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards of Public Officials and Employees on filing of a complaint with the Ombudsman.
