For the nationwide observance of the National Heroes Day (NHD) today (August 25), the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) directed all local government units (LGUs) to display the Philippine flag prominently in public spaces.
The DILG directive, issued through Memorandum Circular 2025-085, reinforces the country's commitment to honoring the valor of Filipino heroes—both celebrated and unsung—who fought for freedom, dignity, and nationhood.
The observance of the NHD is anchored on Republic Act No. 9492, which designates the last Monday of August as a regular nonworking holiday.
This year's theme, “Isang Diwa, Isang Lahi, Isang Bayanihan,” echoes President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s call for patriotism and civic responsibility, underscoring the enduring legacy of collective courage and sacrifice.
