Hit-and-run victim's family receives financial assistance

The Mandaue City government has released P49,000 in burial and financial assistance to the family of a Clean and Green worker whose husband died in a hit-and-run incident along M.C. Briones Street (Highway Seno) during her shift.

Mayor Thadeo “Jonkie” Ouano, together with Vice Mayor Glenn Bercede, personally handed over the assistance to the family of Teonie Longos, the 37-year-old husband of city street sweeper Rosal Longos.
Teonie was killed in the early morning of Thursday, September 18, after being struck by a vehicle while accompanying his wife at work. Rosal also sustained injuries in the accident.
Mayor Ouano, joined by city councilors, assured the family of continued support, including assistance for Rosal's medical treatment and educational aid for the couple's child, a Grade 8 student.
City Councilors Fritz Villamor, Eugene Andaya, Ben Basiga, Atty. Carlo Fortuna, Jimmy Lumapas, Ting Sol Cabahug, Jen Del Mar, and Kevin Flores Cabahug V, along with Barangay Tipolo officials led by Captain Resty Villanueva, were present during the turnover of financial aid.
Meanwhile, the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) reported that the families of both the suspect and the victims have reached an amicable settlement.
