The Cebu City Government is now keeping a strict watch over its fleet through the installation of Global Positioning System (GPS) units on vehicles under the Department of General Services (DGS), a move seen as both a modernization effort and a corrective measure following concerns about the misuse of government assets.
The measure was formalized through an inspection led by Mayor Nestor Archival at the DGS facility in the South Road Properties (SRP) before Christmas, where he assessed the condition of city-owned equipment and vehicles.
"We conducted a site visit at the DGS in SRP to assess the current condition of the area and inspect the status of our equipment—determining which units remain serviceable and which require repair," Archival said through his social media page.
