FLOOD VICTIMS IN MANDAUE CITY 14 families get relocation ahead of Christmas Day

At least 14 families from Barangays Umapad and Alang-Alang in Mandaue City are set to relocate to Bayanihan Village at Pasilong sa Paradise in Barangay Guizo, just days before Christmas.

The beneficiary families are expected to move into their new homes on December 22, 2025, following the ceremonial turnover of modular housing units led by Mandaue City Mayor Thadeo Jovito “Jonkie” Ouano on December 18.

Ouano welcomed the timing of the relocation, saying it would allow families to settle into safer homes ahead of the holidays.

“Malipay sad ta kay hapit na ang adlaw sa Pasko nga makabalhin sila, mas mahimutang na sila,” the mayor said.

The turnover ceremony was attended by city officials and representatives from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the City Social Welfare and Services (CSWS).

The relocation is part of the city government's efforts to provide safer and more secure housing for families displaced by disasters. Ouano said the city targeted December 22 as the move-in date, but asked beneficiaries for understanding, noting that the relocation process required careful preparation.

He explained that evacuees were not transferred earlier to ensure the site was fully ready.
