DOLE, IT-BPM join hands to protect workers' welfare

The Philippines' US$40-billion IT-BPM industry and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) have moved to present a united front, following a high-level dialogue in Cebu that reaffirmed their shared commitment to protect worker welfare, uphold compliance, and preserve the integrity of one of the country's most vital economic sectors.
The meeting, held on October 10 with Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma, DOLE Regional Director Roy Buenafe, and executives from several IT-BPM companies, sought to clarify compliance issues raised in recent inspections.
According to IBPAP, the identified areas for improvement were minor, unrelated to the recent earthquake in Cebu, and have already been addressed in full compliance with DOLE's observations.
