As the Yuletide season approaches, the public is reminded to embrace it with safety and health through the “Ligtas Christmas Campaign 2025” of the Department of Health (DOH)-Visayas to ensure a responsible celebration.

Speaking during the Kapihan sa PIA-7 yesterday, DOH Region 7 Medical Officer IV Dr. Shelbay G. Blanco reminded the public that while December is a time for reunions and travel, Filipinos must celebrate responsibly.

He acknowledged recent disasters, including earthquakes and Typhoons Tino and Uwan, but said these should not stop Filipinos from celebrating Christmas while exercising caution.

This annual campaign focuses on raising awareness and promoting preventive measures to ensure that every Filipino enjoys a safe, healthy, and accident-free holiday season.

The campaign highlights three key advocacy pillars: BiyaHealthy, Healthy Handaan, and Iwas Paputok. A major component of the campaign is BiyaHealth, which focuses on safety during travel.

Blanco advised motorists to inspect their vehicles before long trips, particularly the engine, oil, coolant, brakes, batteries, lights, tires, and fuel systems.

Travelers were also urged to bring emergency kits, get adequate rest before driving, wear seatbelts, and ensure that children are properly secured in vehicles.
