Contractor of bridge construction given 6 months to finish project

The contractor, Bonifacio Builders, awarded to resume construction of Pulangbato Bridge, a reinforced deck girder bridge, spanning Sitio Candarong to Tanay Road in Barangay Pulangbato, Cebu City is given six months to complete the project.

This decision of the city government marked the end of a longstanding dispute among upland residents that led to the declaration of a state of calamity in the barangay. The groundbreaking for the resumption of bridge construction was done yesterday (Wednesday).

Spearheading the groundbreaking were Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival Sr., City Administrator Albert Tan, and Barangay Captain Barry Miñoza, in the presence of other city officials.

Archival, in his talk with reporters, expressed enthusiasm for the project, which is now formalized with a contract. He said this was the result of the multiple efforts and requests made by barangay officials and area residents, adding that the City Council also approved his authority to sign the contract, on behalf of the city, with the contractor.
