The stalled construction of Pulangbato Bridge is scheduled to resume next week, upon the decision of Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival Sr., who emphasized a possible completion timeline this December.

This development gave sighs of relief from Barangay Pulangbato residents, especially to their village chief John Barry Miñoza, who said this matter has been a prevailing problem in their community, posing risks especially during rainy days.

“Dako kaayo namong kalipay nga mao ni i-prioritize ni mayor labi na karon nga sigeg uwan-uwan,” said Miñoza, adding that rainy season often disrupts the regular route of residents traversing the unfinished bridge, while some students opt not to go to school when it becomes impassable.

He said the river where the bridge stands is frequently submerged due to intense water flow, and the flooding also leaves holes that pose risks to motorists. “Among ginabuhat sa barangay, amo sad ginaabonohan, unya after sa baha, ma wash out,” he said.

The Pulangbato Bridge, a reinforced deck girder bridge, is located at Barangay Pulangbato of Cebu City, specifically connecting sitio Candarong to Tanay Road. It was heavily damaged by typhoon Odette in December 2021, later underwent reconstruction that was left unfinished.
