Close to 4,500 PDLs across CV to join polls on Monday

To uphold the right to suffrage even behind bars, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in Central Visayas (BJMP-7) is ready to facilitate the participation of persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) in the upcoming 2025 national and local elections.

In a press conference on Thursday, May 8, 2025, Jail Superintendent Eric Relucio, Chief of the Regional Operations Division of BJMP-7, announced that 4,474 out of 17,896 PDLs across the region are confirmed to vote, based on data as of May 5.
"Tagaan nato silag voice to vote. Sa atong Constitution nga naay right to suffrage," said Relucio.
Of the confirmed PDL voters, 4,052 are male and 422 are female, distributed across jail facilities in the provinces of Cebu, Bohol, Negros Oriental, and Siquijor.
