Cebu U-16 football semifinals set after court denies petition

The 2025 PFF Under-16 Domestic Qualifier in Cebu presses forward into its semifinal stage this weekend, undeterred by a legal petition filed by parents of disqualified players from one of the competing teams.
The Regional Trial Court denied the request to halt the tournament affirming the Cebu Regional Football Association’s (CRFA) adherence to eligibility rules and its commitment to fair play.
The semifinal is now set for Saturday, September 6, with two high-stakes matches scheduled at the Dynamic Herb-Borromeo Sports Complex pitting the Abellana National School against the Don Bosco Technical College-A at 1 p.m. and Don Bosco-Liloan versus the University of San Carlos at 3 p.m.
The winners will advance to the championship match on Monday, September 8, where Cebu’s representative to the next stage will be decided.
Attorney Ted Piacidad, CRFA board member and legal counsel, represented the defense during the August 26 hearing and disclosed the latest development to the press alongside the other officials of the said association.
